Minimum Wage

The lowest hourly, daily, or monthly wage that employers may legally pay workers, set by national or subnational law.

Minimum wages exist in 90% of countries in some form. They can be statutory (set by law) or collective (negotiated between unions and employers). The ILO estimates around 20% of wage earners globally earn at or near their country's minimum.
