An automatic mechanism that adjusts minimum wage to inflation, productivity, or median wage growth without requiring new legislation.

France's SMIC adjusts automatically each January plus when cumulative inflation exceeds 2%. Luxembourg indexes on a 2.5% inflation trigger. Countries with indexation rarely see long minimum-wage freezes like the US federal rate.
